What to do first?

So I've knocked out about 50 of my 120 essays and that makes me happy. I still, however, have 58 blogs to read, a novel to read, 70 essays to grade and planning for my 2 new preps. . . I'm just not sure how it's all going to get done.  What if it doesn't?  What if I walk in here clueless on Monday?  What happens?  The kids rock; the situation, however, is overwhelming.  Oui Vey!

Losing my mind!

So why do you supposed Google decided to up-and-change everything right at the beginning of school?  Kids are on the EXACT SAME SITE and seeing different words, styles and login tactics.  I truly would feel better if I pulled my hair out.  I feel horrible for the kids, but the majority of them are just rolling with it.  Laughing it off.  I swear - I love these kids already!

I'm Cool . . . sorta . . . in my own mind.

Today I managed to fix problems related to technology.  Who would have ever thought?  My kids are light years ahead of me, but I'm totally okay with that.  I even used the tech pen.  Mr. Kitsmiller would be soooo proud.

Sherry Owens' Blog: Contemp. Prep.

So, I'm 40 and I'm trying to figure out this whole blogging thing.  I think I'm trying to make it harder than it really is.  I was the Character Ed. coach in our district for 4 years and during that time, I focused on people, not technology.  I feel lost and anxious when it comes to creating a "new" way to teach writing.  I'm old school.  I like having a final product in my hand when the process is complete.  As a teacher, I need to know where my kids are when it comes to their writing skills. And I also know that if they have been at GLHS for the last 3 years, they have learned to write - and write well.  I, however, have to have some proof of that before I am comfortable moving forward.  I hope this gets easier, and I am confident that it will.
